3rd Teaneck International Film Fest Set for Nov. 14-16, ‘08

We hope you were among the nearly 1,500 people who had a chance to see a film or two (or more) at our Nov. '07 event. It was great fun and filled with unforgettable moments, with a combination of terrific films and compelling Q&A's and discussions with very special guests, including John Sayles, Maggie Renzi and actor Tom Wright at the opening night presentation of the New Jersey premiere of "Honeydripper." What will we do for an encore? We're already planning the third Teaneck International Film Festival, scheduled for Nov. 14-16, 2008. Once again, we will offer a weekend of outstanding feature films, documentaries, shorts and award-winning student films, seasoned with parties, panels, guest appearances and more.

Cinemania Coming to Teaneck in Fall '08

We are proud to announce that the Teaneck International Film Festival, in conjunction with the Jacob Burns Film Center of Westchester County, will introduce a pilot 6-week, once-weekly after-school film program for 7th and 8th graders in the Fall, called Cinemania. The program will be limited to 25 students and will be held at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Teaneck. The program includes movie screenings, interactive discussions as well as writing and reading film reviews. The program will be part of the SuperStrides program, funded by the Puffin Foundation, and administered by Teaneck's Community Education Center.

The program will start Sept. 25th. Like the film festival itself, Cinemania offers students the opportunity to explore through film the human experience in all corners of the globe. Issues raised by the films to be shown could include: gender/identity; social class; family; coming of age; racism/discrimination; body image; and more. The program will include an invitation to the film festival's kickoff party, for students and their families, on Nov. 13. Applications will be available after Labor Day. For more information, contact KYucht@teaneckschools.org.

An Afternoon of Fun at Kick-Off Fundraiser, April 6

Wonderful music was provided at the TIFF kick-off party on April 6 by members of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. Playing with the quartet: Diane Lang, violin; Marvin Von Deck, viola; Rosalinda Geneslaw, cello; and William Keller, violin.

The Good Old Days at the Movies, the Teaneck International Film Festival's kick-off fundraising event for TIFF 2008,  featured wine, cheese, desserts, musical entertainment by members of the Bergen Philharmonic and an exciting auction of movie memorabilia. A contribution to the film festival put donors in a drawing for prizes that included film festival tickets, prizes, and gift certificates to Teaneck stores and happenings.

The Reviews are in...
"The Teaneck International Film Festival was a wonderful event for moviegoers and a wonderful event for Teaneck and Bergen County...It was great!”
— Loretta Weinberg, State Senator, 37th District
